Overview
Keywords are a means to identify a user's specialty or area of expertise. Depending on the journal, you may choose either from a set list of keywords or enter your own. Some journals also allow both forms of entry. Keywords are one criterion used by Editors and Administrators to find suitable reviewers for manuscripts.
How do I add keywords to my ScholarOne account?
If you are a Author, Reviewer, Editor or Administrator, please follow the below instructions to add or update your keywords in your Scholar One account:
- Log in to your Scholar One account. For more information on how to find the submission site, please see How can I make a submission to a Sage journal?
- Go to 'Account Settings; in the blue menu bar at the top of the screen:
- From the dropdown, select 'User ID & Password':
- When on the 'User ID & Password' page, scroll down to Classifications/Main fields of expertise. Enter your keywords into the field and Save the changes.
How do I add keywords to my submission?
To add or update your keywords to your manuscript submission, please follow the below instructions:
- Log in to your Scholar One account. For more information on how to find the submission site, please see How can I make a submission to a Sage journal?
- Click on 'Author' in the top menu to access your Author Dashboard:
- If you are starting a new submission, click on 'Start New Submission':
- If you are editing an existing a submission, click on 'Unsubmitted and Manuscripts in Draft':
- Go to 'Step 3: Attributes' to enter your keywords:
- Scroll down to 'Keywords' section:
- Depending on how the journal is configured, you can either choose from the given list and add the keywords using the 'ADD' button or manually add the keywords in the given space:
- If the journal has a set list, you can add the keyword by clicking the + Show Full List link. Select the desired keywords (you can do this by using CTRL + left click) in the box and click the + Add button. If there are keywords you feel are important that have been left out of the list, we recommend contacting the journal's editorial office to make the suggestion.
- If the journals does not have a set keyword list, you may add your keywords one at a time by typing in the text box and clicking the + Add button.
